Detroit Tigers starting pitcher and former Rookie of the Year Michael Fulmer (elbow) has been recommended for Tommy John surgery by Dr. James Andrews, the team announced Tuesday via Twitter. Fulmer will seek a third opinion before making a decision. Fulmer was shut down from game action about a week ago in order to work on mechanical issues, but experienced elbow soreness in a recent bullpen session.
