Michael Fulmer Avoids Salary Arbitration
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Fulmer avoided salary arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $3.1 million deal. The right-hander was the 2016 American League Rookie of the Year, but he was 0-2 with an 8.78 ERA in 10 starts in 2020 after missing all of the previous season due to Tommy John surgery. Fulmer made $1.037 million in prorated pay from his $2.8 million salary during the shortened 2020 season. The 27-year-old has declined each year since winning Rookie of the Year, and elbow and knee issues have certainly played their part in his downfall. If healthy, he could rebound for a young Tigers rotation, but fantasy managers probably aren't investing him in standard-sized leagues to begin the season.
