Mets Could Walk Away From Carlos Correa
2 years agoThe New York Mets have grown "very frustrated" in their negotiations with free-agent shortstop Carlos Correa over the past few days and are now considering walking away altogether, according to a source with direct knowledge of the team's thinking. In the end, the Mets and Correa believed they had a strong chance of reaching an agreement, but the deal is at an inflection point. On Dec. 21, the Mets and Correa agreed to a 12-year, $315 million deal, but his physical later revealed long-term concerns about a previous ankle injury. The two sides have been in constant communication since then, but they haven't been able to agree on new contract language that would protect the Mets from risks associated with the injury. Correa's camp has also reached out to other teams, so there's no telling where he may end up now. Stay tuned.
