Mets Agree With Kodai Senga
2 years agoThe New York Mets agreed to a five-year deal worth $75 million with Japanese pitcher Kodai Senga on Saturday, according to a source. The Mets have bolstered their starting rotation for the 2023 season by signing free-agent starters Justin Verlander, Jose Quintana and Senga to replace Jacob deGrom, Taijuan Walker and Chris Bassitt. The addition of the 29-year-old Senga makes the Mets rotation one of the deepest in baseball along with veteran ace Max Scherzer and Carlos Carrasco. Senga will have his work cut out for him at the MLB level, but he has the stuff to be successful with a mid-90s heater and a nasty forkball that could give major-league hitters fits. His workload will be a question mark, though, since he's gone over 150 innings pitched just once in the last six seasons in Japan.
