Melvin Gordon III Receives Five Carries Saturday
3 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III saw his first preseason action in the finale on Saturday against the Rams and had five carries for 35 yards rushing in the 17-12 win. He also caught his lone target in the passing game for a four-yard pickup. It wasn't a big performance for Gordon by any means, but he looked healthy and dealing with a minor groin injury earlier in training camp. The former Los Angeles Charger is expected to enter Week 1 as the starting running back for the Broncos, but rookie Javonte Williams is expected to be heavily involved as well, and many are predicting that the rookie will eventually take over this backfield by season's end. The presence of Williams will certainly lower Gordon's ceiling and make him more of an RB3/flex target for fantasy managers.
