Melvin Gordon III Must Be More Efficient
3 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III played 59.4 percent of the offensive snaps in the Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, compared to 40.6 percent for rookie Javonte Williams. But Gordon and Williams both had 13 carries, with Williams running for 64 yards and Gordon totaling only 31 rushing yards. Gordon has the lone rushing touchdown for Denver through two weeks, but he only had 2.38 yards per carry last week and minus-18 rush yards over expectation against the Jags. Williams has looked better in his limited work early on, so Gordon will need to be more efficient to avoid letting Williams take over this backfield eventually. But against the Jets, who have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game to RBs through two weeks, Gordon will have some appeal as an RB3/flex in a game that feature positive game script.
