Mekhi Becton Making Strides With Eagles
6 months agoPhiladelphia Eagles offensive tackle/guard Mekhi Becton has not had a great start to his NFL career. The No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the New York Jets has played in just 31 games (30 starts) over his first four pro seasons. He's struggled with weight management, injuries, and general ineffectiveness. However, he's reportedly having a great offseason after a change of scenery. "He's probably had one of the best offseasons here," offensive tackle Lane Johnson said. "He's played some guard at times and has done really well. Just a big, strong, powerful dude. I think he's going to help us a lot this year whether he plays tackle or guard. But a guy that big that can move that well, we definitely need him out there." Becton is learning from one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL (Jeff Stoutland) and a few offensive linemen who are top players at their positions. The 25-year-old Louisville product figures to be the "sixth man" on one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, so he'll have a chance to step back and develop.
