Max Scherzer Dealing With Neck Stiffness
1 year agoUpdating a previous report, New York Mets right-hander Max Scherzer (neck) is dealing with some neck stiffness, which is the product of sleeping the wrong way, according to general manager Billy Eppler. However, it's likely unrelated to the neck spasms that affected him earlier this year, and he's healed up enough for the team to pencil him in to start this Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It's not what fantasy managers want to hear from the 38-year-old heading into the second half of the season, in a very difficult matchup to boot. Scherzer still has a nice 27.6% strikeout rate, but he's posted an un-Scherzer-like 4.31 ERA (4.54 FIP) and has given up nine earned runs in 11 innings in his last two starts heading into his first appearance in the second half.
