Max Scherzer Could Be Willing To Accept A Trade
1 year agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer is no stranger to trade-deadline deals and is 38 years old and looking to win another title. Several industry sources have suggested he would waive his no-trade clause for the right situation with the Mets going nowhere fast in the standings. The Mets could use owner Steve Cohen's riches to pay Scherzer's contract down in hopes of landing a premium prospect in return. Scherzer hasn't taken a loss in his last eight starts and has a 3.19 ERA over that span. He's halfway through his three-year, $130 million deal in New York. Scherzer is currently 7-2 with a 3.95 ERA (4.12 FIP), 1.17 WHIP, 16 walks and 76 strikeouts in his 13 starts. The three-time Cy Young winner probably isn't going anywhere, but it's something to think about with the July deadline getting closer.
