Buffalo Sabres defenseman Mattias Samuelsson exited Saturday's 5-1 win over Vancouver with a lower-body injury, but he luckily managed to avoid serious injury. The young blue-liner, who has just inked a seven-year extension with the club, injured his right knee in a collision with Vancouver's Curtis Lazar and had to be helped off the ice. Samuelsson managed to log 9:47 of action before leaving, registering one shot and four hits with a plus-one rating. He's tallied 11 hits in total for the season and also boasts the same amount of blocks in five games. The 22-year-old has received a lot of praise for his mature play as a stay-at-home defenseman and the Sabres will be happy to know his injury isn't as bad as first feared.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
