Matthew Stafford Injures Ankle In Saturday's Loss
4 years agoDetroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (ankle) played one offensive series in Saturday's 47-7 blowout loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday before leaving the game and never returning with a right ankle injury. It was the team's worst home loss in the Super Bowl era and the fourth-worst home loss of all time. It's the ninth time the team has lost by 40 points or more. Stafford came into the game battling rib and thumb injuries. The team hasn't given details on the severity of Stafford's injury, but with nothing to play for in Week 17, we'd be surprised if the beat up Stafford plays. Backup Chase Daniel was not effective in Stafford's place against Tampa and would be, at best, a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues against the Vikings next week. Stafford was 2-for-3 for 17 yards before leaving the game.
