Despite dropping Jeremiah Wells multiple times, Matthew Semelsberger was unable to do enough in 15 minutes of action to earn a split decision (30-27, 28-29, 30-27) on Saturday. Semelsberger put together a respectable UFC run, which saw him amass a 5-2 record heading into the fight with Wells. In 15 minutes of action, Semelsberger had 20 significant strikes (39 total strikes) and was out-struck in the total-strikes department by 47. Wells earned six takedowns and used his advantage in grappling to control the Octagon to stay away from the stand-up skills of Semelsberger. A victory over an explosive opponent like Wells would've moved Semelsberger closer to the top-15 rankings.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBaller
