Matthew Boyd Strikes Out Nine in Win on Sunday
Matthew Boyd turned in an excellent start in his team's 11-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Boyd threw five shutout innings while allowing three hits, walking one, and striking out nine on the way to earning his ninth win of the season. The veteran southpaw notched 14 swinging strikes in the outing while improving his record to 9-3, to go along with a 2.52 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 96 strikeouts in 103 2/3 innings of work on the season. Boyd remains a rock-solid fantasy starting pitcher going forward as he prepares to take on the New York Yankees in his next start, which is set for Saturday.
