Matt McLain Starts Rehab Assignment Saturday
1 year agoThe Cincinnati Reds sent rookie infielder Matt McLain (oblique) to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday to begin his minor-league rehab assignment. Manager David Bell said on Friday that McLain remains on track to return from the 10-day injured list as long as he doesn't suffer a setback this weekend. The impressive 24-year-old rookie is attempting to return from a right-oblique strain to help the Reds try to secure the final wild-card spot in the National League over the next week of action. He should return to a prominent role in the lineup last week after beginning his career with a .290 average (106-for-365) with 16 home runs, 50 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 65 runs scored in his first 89 games played.
