Matt Breida, Kendrick Bourne Receive Second-Round Tenders
5 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers tendered restricted free-agent running back Matt Breida and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne at the second-round level, according to a source. Breida is a valuable weapon for the Niners run-heavy approach. He totaled 123 carries for 623 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and one touchdown on the ground in 2019. Breida also added 19 receptions for 120 yards and another touchdown through the air. The 25-year-old has averaged a very healthy 5.0 yards per carry in his three seasons in the NFL, but the problem is the team's crowded backfield with Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Jerick McKinnon. That's a lot of bodies, making the 49ers backfield situation a nightmare for fantasy owners. It will likely take an injury or two for Breida to see the field consistently in 2020. Bourne had 30 catches for 358 yards and five touchdowns in 2019 in his third season. Even with Jalen Hurd and Dante Pettis doing next to nothing, Bourne still underwhelmed behind Deebo Samuel, Emmanuel Sanders and Marquise Goodwin.
