Masahiro Tanaka Has Bone Chips Removed From Elbow
5 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (elbow) underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove bone spurs from his right elbow, according to general manager Brian Cashman. It's a notable procedure, but Tanaka should have enough time to heal up before spring training of 2020. The Japanese right-hander went 11-9 with a 4.45 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 149 strikeouts in 182 innings (31 starts) for the Bombers in 2019. He was up and down most of the year and allowed the second most home runs (28) in his career. Keep an eye on how Tanaka heals in the offseason, but he should be a reliable innings-eater for fantasy owners again next season.
