Martin Truex Jr: "Just Ran Out of Time" At Kansas
1 week agoThe bad finish streak by Martin Truex Jr. is finally over. After eight straight races with results of 20th or worse, Truex came home with a third-place finish in Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway. He also led five laps and looked to be in contention for the win, as the No. 19 Toyota was the leader for the final restart. However, Truex simply didn't have the speed on the short runs, which ultimately doomed him. "Just not quite good enough on the short runs all day on the restarts," Truex said after the race. "It took us 10 to 15 laps to get going." With the final stint of the race being less than 30 laps, Truex knew it wasn't likely that he was going to snap his winless streak. "The No. 1 and the No. 24 got away and then we were catching them beck, and just ran out of time," Truex said. He is still winless in his final full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series.
