Mark Vientos Sent To Triple-A
1 year agoThe New York Mets optioned infielder Mark Vientos to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday to make room for first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist), who was activated from the 10-day injured list. Vientos didn't fare well at the plate in 16 games for the Mets before being sent down, as he had gone just 8-for-45 (.178) with one home run, five RBI, three walks and 14 strikeouts in 49 trips to the late. In 32 games in the big leagues so far over the last two years, Vientos is hitting .173 (14-for-81) with two homers, eight RBI and 26 strikeouts in 90 plate appearances. The 23-year-old will continue to work on his craft in the minors, where he previously had a 1.104 OPS at Syracuse before the Mets called him up this year.
