Mark Vientos Not Playing On Tuesday
4 months agoNew York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (ankle) is dealing with a sore left ankle and is not in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the visiting Oakland Athletics. Veteran Jose Iglesias will take over at the hot corner and will bat seventh against A's right-hander Joe Boyle, who will be making his first big-league start since May. Vientos was scratched from Sunday night's lineup against the Seattle Mariners and will now miss a second straight game despite having Monday off. The 24-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now. Iglesias has seemingly come out of nowhere to hit over .300 in his short time with the Mets in 2024, but he's slowed down a bit of late, batting .250 (6-for-24) with two doubles and two RBI in seven games in August, and he remains a low-upside DFS sleeper near the bottom of the batting order.
