Mariners Hoping George Kirby Will Start This Weekend
1 year agoSeattle Mariners manager Scott Servais said that the team hopes right-hander George Kirby (illness) will return to the starting rotation to face the New York Mets on either Saturday or Sunday. Fantasy managers were extremely bummed to learn that Kirby was scratched from his pristine matchup against the lowly Oakland Athletics on Tuesday, but he's apparently feeling better and won't be completely skipped in the rotation this weekend during a series against the Mets. The 25-year-old has been a must-start fantasy asset this year, going 10-8 with a 3.28 ERA (3.21 FIP), 1.03 WHIP, 14 walks and a career-high 142 strikeouts in 156 1/3 innings over his 25 starts. In his last five starts, he's allowed only nine earned runs while walking only two and fanning 30 in 32 2/3 frames.
