Mariners Acquire Kolten Wong From The Brewers
2 years agoThe Seattle Mariners acquired second baseman Kolten Wong from the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday in exchange for outfielder Jesse Winker and third baseman Abraham Toro, according to sources. The Brewers picked up Wong's $10 million club option for the 2023 season but then dealt him to Seattle on Friday. In Seattle, Wong will become the everyday second baseman next year, replacing free-agent Adam Frazier at the keystone. The 32-year-old veteran will be leaving a hitter-friendly ballpark for a more pitcher-friendly one in the Pacific Northwest, so he could see some regression at the plate in 2023 after slashing .251/.339/.430 with a career-high 15 home runs, 47 RBI, 65 runs scored and 17 stolen bases in 134 games in 2022. Wong will have plenty of opportunities to score runs in this Mariners lineup.
