Marcus Mariota Not On The Hot Seat
2 years agoAtlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith defended starting quarterback Marcus Mariota on Monday. "There is no situation. There was never a situation, ever. I don't know where that…You understand why the question is getting asked. You lose two games in five days. Everybody wants to panic," Smith said. Mariota went 19-for-30 for 186 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in last Thursday's loss to the Carolina Panthers, also adding 43 rushing yards on three carries. But the 29-year-old was running for his life and was fortunate to come away with only the one interception while forcing unnecessary passes all night long. Mariota has been under 200 yards passing in six of his last seven games and enters Week 11 as the QB11 thanks to his rushing ability.
