Marcell Ozuna's Free-Agent Stock Rising
4 years agoFree-agent outfielder Marcell Ozuna's stock on the open market is rising because of his success against the tough pitching he faced in the playoffs this year. Ozuna had two underwhelming seasons in St. Louis (107 OPS+), but he re-established his market value by nearly winning the National League Triple Crown in 2020 after leading the league with 18 home runs and 56 RBI. He also had a .338 average and a 1.067 OPS. The slugger has his shortcomings on defense, but Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said the team would love to re-sign him. Ozuna appeared to be a perfect fit in Atlanta's clubhouse this year, so a multi-year deal isn't out of the question if they bring him back. There will be other squads, potentially the White Sox and Red Sox, who will be interested in Ozuna, especially since he wasn't eligible to receive a qualifying offer that would've tied him to draft-pick compensation.
