Marc Leishman Triumphs At Torrey Pines
5 years agoMarc Leishman certainly wasn't the biggest star in the mix Sunday at the Farmers Insurance Open, but the big Aussie outplayed some of golf's elite to take down the title at Torrey Pines. Leishman started the day four shots back of the 54-hole leader Jon Rahm, but Rahm and his playing partner Rory McIlroy both struggled badly out of the gate, while Leishman set Torrey South's front nine on fire with a blistering five-under par 31. Despite some erratic drives on the back nine, the 36-year-old finished at 15-under par for the week, one shot clear of a late-charging Rahm. It was Leishman's fifth-career victory on the PGA Tour. He is not scheduled to play in the upcoming Waste Management Phoenix Open.
