Manny Machado Undergoes Elbow Surgery
1 year agoThe San Diego Padres announced on Tuesday that third baseman Manny Machado (elbow) underwent right-elbow extensor tendon repair surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles, and it was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Machado's estimated recovery timeline is four to six months. In a worst case scenario, Machado will not be ready for the start of the 2024 season. The 31-year-old six-time All-Star had a down year average-wise, hitting .258 (140-for-543), but he still managed to reach the 30-home run mark for the seventh time in his career while driving in 91 runs, stealing three bases and scoring 75 runs in 601 plate appearances over 138 games played. We'll keep a close eye on his progress over the winter and into the start of spring training in 2024.
