San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is getting the day off on Friday as the team faces Chris Flexen and the Seattle Mariners. Ha-Seong Kim is getting the start at third base and batting eighth in the game. Machado has gone 0-for-8 over his last two games and is slashing just .200/.300/.433 throughout the month of May. Despite the recent struggles, there's a lot to like about Machado's peripherals this year. His 53.8% hard-hit rate and 93.2 mph average exit velocity are career-best marks. He also has a career-best 12.9% walk rate this year. He's currently being held back by an abnormally low 11.5% HR/FB rate, down from 20.5% last year and 16.8% the year before.
