2 years agoNew England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones (ankle) is officially doubtful to play against the Detroit Lions in Week 5 after suffering a severe high-ankle sprain in Week 3. Jones has been practicing with the team on a limited basis, but he's not ready to return as the starter under center and may not be ready next week, either. Veteran backup Brian Hoyer (concussion) was placed on Injured Reserve on Thursday, so Garrett Gilbert will likely be called up from the practice squad to serve as rookie Bailey Zappe's backup on Sunday against the Lions. Zappe acquitted himself nicely in his first NFL action last week, and he'll be on the streaming radar as a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues this weekend against a porous Lions secondary.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
