Mac Jones Not Expected To Play Thursday In Preseason Opener
1 year agoNew England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is not expected to play in the team's preseason opener on Thursday against the Houston Texans. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but Jones should see some work later in the preseason. With Jones unlikely to play this week, Bailey Zappe, Trace McSorley and Malik Cunningham will get their opportunities to impress. The 24-year-old Jones is likely in a make-or-break year in New England in 2023, and he already looks way more comfortable in Bill O'Brien's offense after the Pats scheme was a train wreck a year ago. Still, Jones doesn't have any elite weapons to throw to. He has a pretty low fantasy ceiling as a glorified game manager for Bill Belichick. Jones continues to be an unexciting low-end QB2 in fantasy.
