Luiz Gohara Has Groin Tightness
7 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Luiz Gohara (groin) is being slowed in camp by groin tightness. He's competing for one of the open starting rotation spots this spring and has been widely considered a favorite after striking out 25 hitters while walking just four in 25 1/3 innings in his last five starts in September. The left-hander is a consensus top-100 prospect this year, and he's expected to compete mainly with Sean Newcomb, who made 19 starts in his rookie season. Gohara hit 96.5 mph with his fastball last year, which is extremely impressive for a lefty starter. If he can figure out right-handers, who killed him last year, Gohara will be one worth watching in deeper leagues if he wins a rotation spot.
