Luis Severino Has Low-Grade Lat Strain

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that starting pitcher Luis Severino (lat) has a low-grade lat strain. While nothing is official yet, it basically means that Severino will open the 2023 regular season on the injured list, and he may not make his season debut until late April or even early May. It's another blow to New York's rotation, with Carlos Rodon (forearm) and Frankie Montas (shoulder) also injured. Severino, 29, also dealt with lat issues in 2022, which kept him out from the middle of July through late September. It should make fantasy managers think twice before taking him in upcoming drafts. Alongside Clark Schmidt and Domingo German, Jhony Brito could also be added to the team's rotation to begin the year with Severino now hurt.
