Luis Gil Could Make Season Debut on Sunday
Luis Gil (lat) is expected to throw 75 pitches in his minor-league rehab start on Tuesday, and if all goes well, he'll be lined up to make his first major-league start on Sunday in Miami against the Marlins. Tuesday will be Gil's fourth rehab start, and potentially his last if everything goes well. The 27-year-old should be picked up in fantasy leagues if he's floating around the waiver wire after winning the American League Rookie of the Year award in 2024. He has been out all season in 2025 due to a strained right lat and has posted a 7.20 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 17 strikeouts and six walks in 10 innings in his three rehab starts with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. While Gil can help down the stretch, fantasy managers also shouldn't expect him to be as good as he was in 2024.
