Luis Castillo Wins Duel Of Aces Friday Night
5 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Luis Castillo (7-9) came out on top in the battle of the aces on Friday night versus Kevin Gausman and the Toronto Blue Jays, picking up the quality start in 6 2/3 innings with one run allowed on two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in a close 2-1 victory. Castillo carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before making his first and only mistake on a fastball right down the middle to Kevin Kiermaier, who tagged the 1-2 pitch for a solo shot over the right-field wall. The 31-year-old veteran struggled to a 5.13 ERA in June, but hopefully Friday night's outing is the sign of things turning around for the right-hander. Fantasy managers' eyes should light up when they see that Castillo's next matchup on Thursday will be against the Los Angeles Angels, whose offense has struggled mightily lately with only one run scored in their last three games.
