Luis Castillo To Start Game 1 Against Blue Jays
2 years agoSeattle Mariners skipper Scott Servais said the team will go with right-hander Luis Castillo in Game 1 of the Wild-Card Series on Friday on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Mariners are planning to use left-hander Robbie Ray in Game 2 and young right-hander Logan Gilbert in a Game 3, if necessary. Castillo became Seattle's ace when they acquired him from the Cincinnati Reds at the trade deadline. The 29-year-old All-Star went 4-2 with a 3.17 ERA (2.91 FIP), a 1.10 WHIP, 77 strikeouts and just 17 walks in 65 1/3 innings in his 11 starts in Seattle. He faced Toronto once this year and allowed two earned runs on seven hits while walking none and striking out five in six innings pitched in a loss.
