Lorenzo Cain To Begin Rehab Assignment Later This Week
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell said that outfielder Lorenzo Cain (hamstring) will leave the team at the end of the series with the New York Mets to join Triple-A Nashville on a rehab assignment that will extend through next week's All-Star break. Cain has been out for over a month now with hamstring and quadriceps injuries, so the Brewers will give him plenty of time in the minor leagues. The 35-year-old veteran is unlikely to be much of an asset on the base paths at this point in his career, and he was hitting just .223 (23-for-103) with three home runs, nine RBI and four steals in 31 games before his injuries struck. A left-right platoon could develop between Cain and Jackie Bradley Jr. in center field when Cain is healthy enough to return.
