LeGarrette Blount 2018 Outlook: Touchdowns Are The Deal Breaker
6 years agoIs this finally the year? When was the last time the Detroit Lions had a run game that was respectable? This could be it, but there will be a lot of mouths to feed. So, while the Lions will be better overall with the run game, all the backs may not have standalone value. If you are looking to get a piece of that Lions backfield though, then you should get some shares of LeGarrette Blount.
Blount was exactly what the Lions needed at running back when they signed him in free agency. Adding a big, smash-mouth running back to help Theo Riddick was enough, but the Lions also added Kerryon Johnson. Everyone will have a role in this offense and Blount will have a role scoring. The Lions will use Johnson between the 20s, Riddick in third down and passing situations while bringing in Blount for short yardage situations or red zone situations. That alone will give Blount extra value as a bye-week fill in. If the Lions are facing a team with a poor run defense and the Lions should put up a lot of points, Blount good be a nice add.
