Laremy Tunsil Wants To Reset The Tackle Market
2 years agoHouston Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil said on Wednesday that he wants to be the highest-paid tackle in the league. "I don't know who's the highest right now, maybe Trent [Williams] at $23 [million], but I want to top that," Tunsil said. "Always want to reset the market. Perfect opportunity to reset the market. Everything is lining up as far as my contract to how I'm playing. Everything lining up perfectly." He was named the starting left tackle for the Pro Bowl and plans to renegotiate his deal in the offseason. Tunsil is entering the final year of his three-year, $66 million extension he signed in 2020. The 28-year-old will have a base salary of $18.5 million in 2023, but the Texans could release or trade him to free up space ($16 million dead-cap number). Despite being on a bad team, his production has ranked among the NFL's best.
