1 year agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder/first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. and rookie catcher Patrick Bailey are both taking the day off on Wednesday against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Wilmer Flores will draw the start at the cold corner and will hit third, while Blake Sabol will do the catching and bat sixth in the order against Rays right-hander Aaron Civale. Wade could use a day of rest, as he's gone 9-for-50 (.180) with two homers, a double, four RBI, 13 strikeouts and six runs scored in 15 games (13 starts) since July 26. Bailey, meanwhile, has been hot in August so far, going 11-for-38 (.290) with a homer, a double, eight RBI and five runs scored in 13 games (11 starts). The 24-year-old switch-hitting backstop is batting .263 (61-for-232) with six homers, 39 RBI and 22 runs scored for the Giants in his first 68 big-league games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
