Kris Bubic Pitches Great in Loss to Tigers
Kris Bubic (5-3) suffered his third loss of the season in a 1-0 decision against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. A lack of run support cost Bubic, who turned in another gem with seven innings of one-run ball. He allowed a mere four hits and racked up nine strikeouts against two walks. It was the fifth straight quality start for the 27-year-old, who hasn't allowed more than one run in a game since April 27. The Royals' decision to move Bubic back to their starting rotation after he functioned as a reliever last season has worked brilliantly. Bubic has provided the club Cy Young-caliber production with a sparkling 1.43 ERA and 79:22 K:BB in 75 1/3 frames this year, making him a must-start for fantasy managers. He has a juicy matchup against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. Bubic held them scoreless over seven innings in a 10-0 win back on May 8.
