Kolten Wong Agrees To Two-Year Deal With Brewers
4 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers are in agreement on a two-year, $18 million deal with free-agent second baseman Kolten Wong on Wednesday, according to a source. The deal also includes a third-year option and is pending a physical. The two-time Gold Glove winner will remain in the National League Central after spending the last eight seasons with the Cardinals, where he slashed .261/.333/.384 with a 94 OPS+. The 30-year-old finished third in Rookie of the Year voting back in 2014. Wong's addition at the keystone likely means that Keston Hiura will shift to third or first base. In his eight seasons with St. Louis, Wong slashed .261/.333/.384 with 53 home runs, 281 RBI and 88 stolen bases. The power doesn't stand out, but he can give you some steals and a decent on-base clip as a middle infielder in deep mixed and NL-only affairs. Wong's primary contributions for the Brew Crew will come with his leather, though.
