Kodai Senga Pushed Back To Wednesday Against Diamondbacks
1 year agoNew York Mets right-hander Kodai Senga was originally scheduled to start on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he has been pushed back a day to Wednesday to give him some extra rest before next week's All-Star break. Right-hander Max Scherzer was moved up to the Fourth of July start, which will allow him to pick up one more start this weekend against the San Diego Padres before the All-Star break on Sunday. The 30-year-old Japanese hurler was pretty solid in his five starts in June, going 1-2 with a 3.71 ERA (4.34 FIP), 15 runs allowed (11 earned), 15 walks and 31 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings. Overall, he's gone 6-5 with a 3.53 ERA (4.02 FIP), 1.35 WHIP, a league-high 46 walks and 101 strikeouts in his first 15 major-league starts. Senga will obviously need to command the ball better to remain productive in the second half of the 2023 campaign.
