Kodai Senga Files Documents To Become A Free Agent
2 years agoJapanese pitcher Kodai Senga has filed the documents to exercise his international free agency rights with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Sankei Sports reported earlier this month that Senga would exercise his opt-out clause to become an international free agent this winter. It means that interested MLB teams won't need to pay a posting fee to acquire him. The 29-year-old has been one of the better pitchers in Japan during his 11-year career. He has five pitches in his arsenal and can hit triple digits on the radar gun with his fastball. Senga's nasty split-fingered fastball should also play well in the United States. He has a career ERA in Japan of just 2.59.
