7/3:San Diego Padres reliever Kirby Yates was placed on paternity leave before Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. It's likely he'll return this weekend against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old veteran is enjoying a career year, posting a stellar 0.79 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 in 34 innings. He's recorded 16 holds as the Friars eighth-inning man and has poached two saves. Although a 2.14 FIP suggests he's been lucky, Yates is a solid fantasy candidate for leagues with tight innings limits. He's also the primary handcuff for closer Brad Hand should he get traded, injured or otherwise.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
