Kenny Gainwell 2021 Outlook: Viable Late-Round Target in PPR Leagues
4 years agoKenny Gainwell opted out of the 2020 college season but was able to put up some impressive numbers as a sophomore at Memphis in 2019. He rushed for 1,459 yards and 13 touchdowns, but more importantly, caught 51-of-61 targets for an additional 610 yards and three touchdowns. That's an impressive catch rate of 83.6%. Eagles' new head coach Nick Sirianni came from Indianapolis, where he was the offensive coordinator between 2018 and 2020. In those three seasons, Nyheim Hines averaged 4.5 targets per game as the primary third-down back. The thought here is that Sirianni will deploy Gainwell similarly to how he utilized Hines in Indianapolis. Boston Scott could also see some of the pass-catching work, however, capping Gainwell's upside in his rookie season. Consider him an intriguing option late in drafts in PPR leagues.
