Kenley Jansen Closes The Ninth In Tuesday's Loss
Kenley Jansen was brought in to finish off the ninth inning in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Blake Treinen began the ninth inning and wound up giving up the game-winning run before Jansen came in to retire the last two batters in order. Jansen had his worst outing of the year in his previous appearance before this one. He gave up three runs (two earned) over 2/3 of an inning against the San Francisco Giants last Friday. He suffered his second loss of the year in the game. Jansen is still in the midst of one of his best seasons in recent years. He has a 1.96 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 12 saves over 22 appearances.
