Kelvin Gutierrez Hits First MLB Home Run
6 years agoKansas City Royals third baseman Kelvin Gutierrez opened the flood gates against Tampa Bay Rays star pitcher Blake Snell when he drilled one off the right field foul pole for his first big league home run. Gutierrez was called up as a temporary defensive replacement for Hunter Dozier while Dozier lets his back heal up completely, but the 24-year-old is now hitting .333 with a home run and seven RBI in his first five games in the bigs. Unfortunately, just about everything about his performance is unsustainable and his time is likely short-lived, but it's been a fun run for now. Anyone looking for a long-term answer should look elsewhere.
