Kahlil Watson Striking Out Too Much In Single-A
3 years agoMiami Marlins shortstop prospect Kahlil Watson went 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts for Single-A Jupiter on Tuesday. The Marlins first-round pick, 16th overall in 2021, Watson has struggled in Single-A after dominating Rookie Ball this past year. For the season, Watson is hitting .224 with six home runs, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases. The biggest issue the 19-year-old is having at the moment is his plate discipline. For the year, Watson has drawn just nine walks and struck out 73 times in 161 at-bats. The talented shortstop has five-tool potential and draws good hard contact, but his aggressiveness at the plate could be an issue and has shown to be this year. Despite some struggles this season, Watson has plenty of time to work out the kinks and at the moment is name for dynasty managers to keep an eye on with him a few years away from potentially making the big leagues.
