Justin Jackson 2020 Outlook: A New Role for JJ, or More of the Same?
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Justin Jackson may have a new role for the 2020 season. Jackson has worked as little more than a change-of-pace back behind Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler since being drafted in 2018, but has shown some bursts of exciting explosiveness when given a chance to be on the field. His arrow was firmly pointing up this offseason after Gordon signed with the Denver Broncos, but the Chargers drafted Joshua Kelley in the fourth round, putting a damper on much of the Jackson hype. Still, the Chargers are reportedly "still very high on" Jackson and he'll certainly have some kind of role in the Los Angeles backfield. He may ultimately end up as little more than a handcuff for Ekeler owners, but he should carve out some value if he can get on the field.
