Justin Herbert Didn't Crumble Under Pressure On Deep Passes
4 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, also tied Baker Mayfield's rookie record for deep touchdown passes with 11. Herbert also had 415 passing yards and five touchdowns on deep passes when under pressure, both most in the NFL. He had five touchdowns on deep passes from under center, which was tied with Kirk Cousins for the league lead. The first-rounder from Oregon was thrown into the fire in Week 2 but hardly missed a beat. Fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues are beyond ecstatic, but Herbert will need to master a new offense with an entire new coaching staff in his sophomore season. Can he do it? It remains to be seen, but Herbert really impressed while throwing for 4,336 yards, a 31:10 touchdown-to-interception ratio and 7.3 yards per attempt as a rookie in 15 games.
