Josh Naylor Expected To Play Friday
5 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Josh Naylor (neck) took part in the team's full workout on Thursday and is expected to be in the Cactus League lineup on Friday night, barring a setback. Naylor has been fighting through a minor neck strain, but he should be fine for the start of the regular season. The 22-year-old Canadian could find it tough to crack San Diego's crowded outfield in 2020, so he'll be mostly a bench bat or could see more time in the minor leagues. He hit .249/.315/.403 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in his first 253 major league at-bats last season. Unless Naylor comes into regular playing time, he'll mostly just be a bench stash in NL-only leagues.
