Josh Jung Pops 20th Homer In Tough Loss
11 months agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Monday's seesaw affair with the Houston Astros which ended in a 10-9 defeat. The 25-year-old smacked a first-inning two-run shot before a seventh-inning single would load the bases, ultimately allowing him to come around and score. With the long ball, Jung joined Adolis Garcia and Dave Hostetler as the only Rangers rookies to blast 20 homers before playing 100 games in their rookie year. After a slow start to his career last fall, the top Texas prospect is slashing a much-improved .275/.326/.490 with 20 big flies, 61 RBI, and one stolen base in 386 at-bats over 98 games during his All-Star campaign. Jung continues to jockey with Masataka Yoshida in the race for AL Rookie of the Year, but Gunnar Henderson is staging a push as well.
